Petaling Street

Petaling Street is the center of Kuala Lumpur's original Chinatown. It's the place that never sleeps. Adventurous visitors should not miss a walk on Petaling Street.

Even in daytime you have great bargains. Petaling Street is not open for the traffic. It is a great place for locals to get some goods at bargain prices and certainly an eye-opening experience for tourists.

Chinatown has a bustling market serving as a bargain hunter's paradise and one of the premier shopping areas in the city with its distinctly oriental atmosphere.

If you're looking for cheap clothes, fabrics, souvenirs, electronic items, watches, DVDs, CDs and more? Then Petaling Street is the place for you. It is easy getting to Petaling Street. Take a taxi, but also numerous bus companies service the area.
To get the best atmosphere you must go at night!

Petaling Street is particularly famous for its all-day parade of stalls, that sell imitation goods of all sorts, like: wallets, handbags, t-shirts, watches, shoes and many other things.

You can buy imitation goods of Rolex, Seiko, Cartier, Christian Dior, Adidas, Nike, Calvin Klein, Armani, Gucci, Prada, D&G, Louis Vuitton.
Bargaining here is an absolute must. Bargain hard! It's the ideal place to test your bargaining skills.

The area attracts many locals and visitors in search of bargain items, including inexpensive dresses, sunglasses, shoes, fabrics and souvenirs.

You can get anything from food to bags and sunglasses to handicrafts all along Petaling Street.
The police is taking action against the illegal cd's and dvd's. I think the copying is done in Malaysia.
The selling of these illegal cd's and dvd's is also in Petaling Street. I don't know, how it works, but................ the salesmen get a phone call, that the police is coming in a quarter of an hour.

In a few minutes they break up and the van is loaded and of they go. Then the police arrives and find no cd or dvd on the market. I think their informant must in or near the police station.
Be warned though that it can get rather crowded sometimes. You should be prepared to sweat it out.
The crowd and the noise are really part of the fun of visiting Petaling Street. Without these,it just wouldn't be right.

Chinatown is also known for its jewellery shops with their fascinating variety of fine jewellery items beautifully crafted in gold and set with priceless gemstones.

You can also have a look out for Chinese pharmacies, that sell ginseng and all sort of traditional remedies for all sorts of ailments.

There are many restaurants with a lot of delicious choices to choose from. Some of the restaurants here have been operating for generations! We're sure, your dinner is fantastic.
Look out for Yook Woo Hin restaurant on Petaling Street. It is one the longest surviving family-run food places in KL.Expect queues, shouting and fantastic food.

Comments: Hakimi and Hanim says it all. We totally had a wonderful time! :)
I love this place because the price of the goods very cheap compare to other places.

Cameron Highlands

Cameron Highlands is a place where you will find an abundance of vegetables and fruits farms located 1500 meters above sea level. The temperatures here can be as low as 16 ˚C. It is the largest and most famous hill resort in the country.

The name Cameron Highlands came from a British surveyor, William Cameron who stumbled across the plateau in 1885 during a mapping expedition. In 1929, John Archibald Russell, who was the son of a British Administrative officer started a tea plantation which is now the famous Boh Tea Plantation.

In recent years, due to increasing tourist arrivals, there have been smaller farms cropping up all over the highlands. These farms produce everything from flowers and vegetables to strawberries. These are primarily for walk in tourists. The other bigger farms that produce vegetables for the nation’s consumptions are usually not on the tourist map.

The tea plantation is one of the must-see features of Cameron Highlands. Here, we can visit the factories to see the tea production.

Besides tea plantation, we can also found the only strawberry farm in the country. The strawberry here are also been exported to other Asian countries which shows that our local farm are being globally recognized.

Vegetables and fruits are not the only plant that they have here; they even have a flower farm, which they sell it to the tourists at the market. The common flowers grown here are roses, carnations, chrysanthemum, dahlia, geranium, fuchsia, and gladioli. All this flowers are cheaper than the flowers sold in the city.

There are also growing and selling all kind of cactus here. Many people prefer to buy a cactus since it is easier to take care of cactus rather than flowers. The most famous cactus is the red cactus since the color attracts many tourists to buy even though its cover with thorns.

You can find that there are many markets along the streets in Cameron Highlands. These markets are selling all the vegetables, fruits, and flowers that were planted there. This place will be crowded with tourists especially during Saturday nights.

Comment:
I believe that most people who loves fresh air will come to this place. The air is different from the one that we breathe in the city. So, this is the best holiday place especially for anyone who enjoy fresh vegetables and fruit.

Comments: I visited the passenger cruise on the 17th of October 2007 noon as I found out that cruise only open up to 7pm. I arrive the place at 2.30 and it didn’t take long for me that get a parking. The signs at Putrajaya help a lot as I didn’t face trouble finding that place. I proceed to the counter as soon as I reach the spot. I found two different packages-one was 30minutes ride and the other one is 45minutes ride. One folds another. I was thinking hard on which package to take finally I decided to take the longer ride which I paid for RM30. Cruise arrive sharp 3pm. I was so excited then I realize majority of the passengers are from overseas like the Arabs and Vietnamese. I started to think, why don’t Malaysian have the thoughts to visit the places within our countries as there are actually simply beautiful and I dare to say is up to an international standards. Inside the cruise, I was introduced to places like the biggest mosque in Malaysia, Sri Wawasan bridge which is beautifully structured and etc. I even got to know that their offer dine in and wedding packages in cruise as well. WAO~ what a deluxe packages. Overall, it was a very relaxing trip as all I needed to do is just stick with the chair and we will be able to see buildings at both side with the cooling air system

Firstly saw people selling all the toys with the eyes on Malaysia in it. I was thinking if I should be as it looks really cute n tempting. Then I saw the public toilet it was really long queue but the toilet looks really clean. Eventually we walked to the counter and it was within minutes we closed to the cubical. Then we were waiting for our turn. I even saw the management gave sponsors to one of the local student’s camp; there were a total 300 of them to enjoy their rides. Finally, is our turn! It didn’t take long and we went up gradually and had a couple of rounds. Believe me, when you are up to the tallest point of wheel you can even saw the blur view of Genting with the ideal system even passenger that have height problem feels less tension. Overall, it was a wonderful trip and I look forward to go on the day ride!

Melaka - Historically Magnificient

Melaka is one of the most visited tourist states in Malaysia. The state of Melaka, aptly named Bandar Bersejarah (Historical City), is located on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia facing the Straits of Melaka, sandwiched between the states of Negeri Sembilan and Johor. It is the second smallest state in Malaysia and covers an area of 1,658 square kilometres. The State of Melaka is divided into three districts, namely, Alor Gajah, Melaka Tengah and Jasin. The capital, also named Malaka, was for a brief period in the 13th to 14th century a great bustling trading point for traders from around the world. Today it is a remarkable city full of historical and cultural relics. The Melaka town centre is relatively small and easily accessible by foot, trishaw or bicycle.

The famous fort of Melaka and perhaps the most well known historical building next to the Stadthuys, it was built by the Portuguese in 1511 as a fortress. It sustained severe structural damage during the Dutch Invasion, but timely intervention by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1808 saved what remains of it today. You are free to wander around this 16th Century fort and let your imagination run riot to the days of pirates and Portuguese galleons.

Maritime Museum

Maritime Museum is constructed after 'Flora De La Mar', the Portuguese ship that sank off the Coast of Malacca on its way to Portugal. With its hull laden with invaluable treasures seized from Malacca, the ship was doomed from existence had it not for the efforts to Malacca's heritage. At the museum, visitor can get a closer look at Malacca from the famed Malay Sultanate of the 14th century to the Portuguese era, the Dutch era and the British era. There are exhibits of foreign ships that had once called at the port of Malacca during the height of its maritime hegemony.

The Stadthuys

Built in 1650 as the official residence of the Dutch Governor and his officers, The Stadthuys is a fine example of Dutch architecture of that period. It is believed to be the oldest Dutch building in the East.

An outstanding example of colonial Dutch architecture, this edifice now houses the History Museum and Ethnography Museum.

Me and my family paid a visit to Bandar Hilir Malacca and we found it as a very interesting place to go. Melaka has so many historical places that can be found. It is a pleasant for me and family to reach there when it takes only one and a half hours of journey. The first place that we spotted is Jalan Merdeka where Maritime Museum is located. The weather was such a bright day and the Maritim Museum's scenery from far gave everyone a stunt look as we appreciate the historical times in Melaka.

The picture beside is located in the A Famosa building and it gives us more information and knowledge on the fortress. What's left today is only the entrance walls but still well preserved. What really attracts me visiting the A Famosa is that I can clearly see the lots of historical things such as the big canon and some statues that is located further up on the hill.

It took around 20 minutes to reach up on the hill. And it definitely made me sweat so much. But it did not make my brother who is so into photography to give up in taking our photos. Meanwhile for us, we never fail to put a smile on our face while our pictures are being captured.=)

This photo was taken right after I managed to reached on the hill. It was really a nice view from the hill and all the scenery around the Bandar Hilir Melaka mostly can be seen. For everyone's information, there are lots of souvenirs available for sale. Many kinds of souvenirs that can be purchased such as key chains, postcards, pictures and others. We had a marvelous time in the A Famosa! We are hoping that we'll have the chance to come back here again.

Comments

This picture was captured when the sun is about to rise. The scenery at the beach was totally amusing. Sitting on the rocks and looking at the clouds really gave me pleasure. I felt so relaxed and peace with the wind blowing. I would love to stay there if I had given a chance. This is simply a great place to have vacations with family or loved ones.

My family is having such a great time in the swimming pool.In addition, most of the people there is very friendly towards us. We felt more easy going with the environment. The swimming pool is opened from 12 noon till 7 in the evening.Laguna Redang is a cool place to stay because people can even make their choice to swim in the ocean or swimming pool. They even can swim in both if they want to. Unlike some hotels that can only provide the swimming pool.

Many people that came for vacation at this place are usually the locals and westerners. The westerners are really open and really enjoy their vacation to the fullest. And from what I can see is that they dont care what people will judge them with their clothing or appearance. This is a good way to enjoy ourselves to the maximum. Other than that, the laguna redang provides many bench loungers for everyone to lie down and relax.
